Rachel is a chef, recipe developer and writer. Originally from Houston, Texas, she lives in Brooklyn with her pet rabbit (and cat and dog). They share a love of seasonal produce.

Rachel is passionate about food access, vintage drinkware and arranging farmer’s market tableaux on the floor. She starts every evening out with a “night carrot” and will talk your ear off about Texas barbecue. She can most likely be found in the nearest kitchen, making you a snack. She would really love it if you brought her some Vietnamese food.

She attended the University of Texas in Austin where she studied journalism and art history, but spent much of her free time cooking and planning dinner parties. After college and culinary school, Rachel put her passion for teaching — and constantly talking — about food to use as a culinary instructor at Sur la Table and at food-based nonprofits like Recipe 4 Success and Brighter Bites. She developed recipes (her favorite thing to do) for companies like LOAM Agronomics. Rachel moved to New York to work as a recipe developer at Plated, and then Martha Stewart & Marley Spoon and Dinnerly, where she writes, edits and tests weekly recipes as a part of her ongoing effort to make you a better home cook.

Rachel is available for freelance recipe development, food styling, personalized cooking classes, private chef work and whatever else we can cook up. Let’s work together.
